7/12/22 I caught some pan fish this morning, but the surprise was my 7th by-catch snakehead. Caught with a 3/16th jig head with a gulp minnow on it on my panfish rod and reel. What a battle. I had more trouble with it when I got it on shore. What a wild strong fish. If I was younger I would target them.

So they are over your way too. Is he making it to the dinner table tonight?

I hope to look for 1 or 2 tomorrow as well.

Did know they were good to eat - of course we don’t have them around here that I know of.

Those things even have skin that looks like snake skin. Congrats on a nice bi-catch. That’s always a bonus. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.🤙

I know some snakes are good eating. I’ll bet just adding water and some fins don’t hurt much😂

Yeah buddy!! Great eating, mostly muscle and no pin bones. I'm guessing you pulled this beast out of a Blackwater trib? Can't imagine hooking one on a panfish combo. Bet your drag got a real workout!

Rhyno - I know it's a ways from you but in CA they've been caught at Silverwood Lake in San Bernardino if you're ever down that way.

Cool catch andys, we have them reported up here in Pa. but I don’t know anyone that’s yet caught one. Heard that they’re really good table fare.

Nice catch. they are considered invasive species and are very hardy. Catch all you can because they will displace other local indigenous fish like blue gills, crappie, bass...

No, not blackwater. I caught it at Marshy Hope Creek Trib.

I just read an article a couple weeks ago where they said that snakeheads aren’t displacing other species as much as they thought they would. Seems like they got a bad rap for that, but that they are a great game fish and ferocious fighters
