Lived down in the Valley for decades. Favorite spots include Herring Creek, Stanislaus River near Kennedy Meadows. Over Sonora Pass to Twin Lakes, rent a boat for a half day and troll for Kokanee and other trout. Stay above your 6000 foot range if shore fishing and you will stay away from ticks and most snakes. The resevoirs, Don Pedro and New Melones, have good fishing if you are in a boat.
