I wonder about the old pocket warmers. How did anyone get away with those, a fire in your clothes?

And I spoke with an African American young man who saw me using my zippo to light up and bummed a light.
He asked where do you buy a lighter like that.
Obviously darned near every convenience store anywhere.
He said his dad grandpa gave him one he carried in Vietnam.
It’s special to him
I told him that’s what they are for.
Keep it safe and give it to your grandson.
Again every zippo has a story.
Can’t say that about a Bic. You throw those away.

Howdy Ben, tear the flint out of an empty bic. It's twice as long as a Zippo flint. Save them for your zippo.

One evening, while playing poker at the B.O.Q, at Warren AFB, I happened to put my hand in between the cushions of the couch I was sitting on. There between the cushions was a Zippo lighter. It had the old wings and propeller like worn by U.S.Army Air Corps Officers and the intitials B.S. which are also mine! I asked around and never found the owner, so I kept it until I lost it, I think. Just Sayin...RJS

My one and only 50,000 concert. Oakland colosseum '76. Zepplin cancelled. Traded the ticket for Winter Bros. Yup. Johnny and Edgar, Rick Deringer, Lynard Skynard, Climax Blues. What a trip. We were there when Zepplin came back in '77. What a trip. No more crowds for me. No patience. Simple or I ain't going. Last one I took the kids. They asked and were old enough. That heavy metal bunch. Hetfield and them. Bout '04. Before that I thought Zepplin was heavy metal.
Yes, the concerts in New Orleans was so rank and dense with smoke, I almost got high just trying to pick up my oldest daughter who was a pre-teen then and the main cause for me to give up being on the 'management track'. I decided it wasn't worth it to sacrifice my family for a corner office in New York! Just Sayin....RJS

I've sent a few Zippos back to get repaired. They always put new guts in the case so if you have an old lighter take the old guts out before you send it back unless that's why you're sending it back. But every Zippo I sent back had an issue with the hinge. Mostly the spot weld holding the lid to the hinge breaks.
