My buddy Caries one from Cambodia
And I spoke with an African American young man who saw me using my zippo to light up and bummed a light.
He asked where do you buy a lighter like that.
Obviously darned near every convenience store anywhere.
He said his dad grandpa gave him one he carried in Vietnam.
It’s special to him
I told him that’s what they are for.
Keep it safe and give it to your grandson.
Again every zippo has a story.

Can’t say that about a Bic. You throw those away.

I remember the lighter days. I didn't carry a lighter but managed to sneak in a camera with zoom lens and take pictures of concerts. Now that cell phones are allowed in you can light it up and take pictures without risk of being kicked out or arrested.

Big fan of concert attendance (though no longer enamored with "stadium -type"...just not interested in sharing the evening with more than maybe a couple of thousand, at best, these days...we are spoiled here in Oregon with venues like the Britt Festival...2200 tickets only). Be safe and compliant with fire laws and still express your sentiment..... download the "Lighter Simulator" app.

A Zippo lighter image pops up, you "swipe the lid up to open", "swipe the spark wheel"...it "lights", and the "flame" even "sways" when you tilt it !
Youngsters are curious, oldsters just grin.... recalling the era when the "lighter act" would usually get the encore the crowd hoped for. Achieving the intended outcome, without endangerment or the fossil fuel use..... ain't technology grand ?

Remember the zippo burning twice. Fill it up, put it in your pocket. Your body heat swelled the fuel causing a leak. Talk about burn. Gave them way back when. You go bic.

Yea, don't overfill them. They'll get ya. Can't imagine a fifty year old Zippo that's been carried at all. Mine the lid would break off after a year or two. Solder gave up. Nope, didn't flip to open. Liked 'em too much.

When I smoked I always carried a Zippo. When I'd fill it I'd wrap a paper towel around it to prevent the leakage and chemical burn on my leg.
