Cut the line or try and cast it as far as you can! I caught an eel once, not fun messes up your line big time! Best thing I could do was cut the line. Tight lines, but not for that critter! 😄

I was Sturgeon Fishing up at the wall in Oregon City in 1994. I hooked a baby sturgeon that was about 2 inches at most long. I never had seen or since then a Sturgeon so tiny.

What was the guy singing in the video?

I caught an otter fishing in Lake Wichita while bank fishing in the mid 70's

Caught a Beaver on a trotline in the same lake as few years later, you talk about mad slapping his tail, I cut him loose and glad he didn't attack me.

Caught a three foot long Cayman off my pier at Lake Arrowhead..I called the game warden and I shot him, probably was dumped there by the owner.

The drowned boy near where I was fishing 😔

Fresh water muscle from the Yadkin River six years ago.
.
A huge 100lb Loggerhead snapping turtle from a farm pond in Oklahoma 50 year's ago.

Cotton mouth Caught in the mouth, my daddy wanted his hook back, I said, you're crazy! For a 10 cent hook?! He laid the snake on ground, drive van's tire onto it just a little to hold it, he pulled the line, took needle nose pliers to the hook. The hook snapped out of snake's mouth and stuck in dad's sock..he panicked he got me!! funniest thing I ever seen caught.

Yes Dan, that's what it is. I presume he was swimming around the Bass beds looking for eggs to steal. I dragged a plastic worm through the bed and the little guy jumped on and rode the worm back into the boat.

1980, fishing off the Avila Beach pier I pulled in something heavy, but not moving, thought it was seaweed, but turned out to be a large shock off a car or truck. When I got the shock on the pier out crawls a nice sized octopus which I turned inside out(the way I kill them if keeping for dinner). The Octopus made a great soup for the wife and me.
I have pulled many rocks from the ocean floor which I keep and have a large rock garden from them around my house. Once I was about 50 miles offshore chasing Albacore when I saw a brand new x-large galvanized thrash can with just enough water in it to float right side up, any waves would have sunk it, but there it was and no boats in sight. I asked all over the port to find out who lost it... now has been my garbage can in the shop for 20 years.
