It is a Golden Shiner. Used to call them Mill Roaches in NJ.

It is a Golden Shiner, called in some places a Millpond Roach. They are a good bait for Bas, Pike, Pickerel, large catfish and are hardy when kept in cool aerated water.

It is not a Sucker. Sucker has a totally different down turned mouth. Not a Shad either. Shad don't hit worms.

You are right. I didn’t look at the mouth. I caught these in bergen county NJ. Redfins I caught in Olean NY and they went up to three pounds.
