Well, the seal’s and O-rings and water pump kit for my lower unit finally came in after six weeks. So in attempting to remove the lower bearing carrier with my fancy $100 puller designed specifically for this, the ear on one of the arms, snaps. 🤬🤬🤬This thing is made of cast iron. Couldn’t take the stress. So now this thing is useless. As some of you might know, cast iron is really tough to weld and it will just break again. And my return window to Amazon is closed. So last night I was surfing YouTube and came across a video where this guy made a puller for the bearing carrier. I took his design and modified it a bit and beefed it up and wa-la it worked perfect. Also had to take the torch and apply heat to the housing. So now it’s all resealed, painted up and ready to go back on the boat when I get down to my sisters in two weeks… 🐟on

Nice job DD. If that didn’t work I was going to suggest you call Danger as he has the most experience with lower units. 😁 👍

You're my kind of man DD.

As far as welding cast iron is concerned I discovered that if you have a wood burning stove big enough to throw in the piece of cast iron and preheat it before welding it then throw it back in and let the fire go out it doesn't crack. I welded up a Land Rover exhaust manifold that way once and it never broke again. Of course I bolted it to a heavy plate to keep it straight.

I think your home built puller is probably better than the one you bought anyway.
