Now this is way before a lot of your time, but how many of you remember taking your shoes to the shoe shop and have taps put on them? they were a steel plate in the shape of a horse shoe for the heels and one one the side and tip of the shoe. you had to be careful when you walked on smooth floors, really slippery and noisy. This is when you could bring your shotgun to school in your truck and show it to your teacher and wouldn't have been arrested, thrown in jail and kicked out of school. Also had the old fishing rod in the rear window.

What fad do you remember?

Had them in the late sixties but got rid of them in high school and started wearing the heels off of my shoes, so they did serve other purposes besides making noise. I now have orthotic insoles that help with my posture.

We used to go the the old supermarket called the Red and White Store in Clearlake Oaks with a few nickels and got those Mexican hat candies 2 for a penny. They were chewy - kind of like the gummy worms my grandkids like these days. Red whips and licorice were a penny a piece. Big hunk candy bars were a nickel - but big!

We got those steel taps put on both the toes and the heels of our shoes so the shoes lasted longer. They made some noise for sure walking around on hard surfaces. Milk man delivering milk three days each week in glass bottles that we left out for him to pick up when they were empty.

Yep, remember the taps so our shoes didn't wear our as fast. Also remember the Cokes came in a little bottle and were a nickel. So was a big candy bar. Then they came out with King sized Cokes and they were also a nickel. Boy we thought we were really getting a deal then. Puttin peanuts in your Coke too.
Then years later in high school I was NEVER without my shotgun and .22 in my car and a pocket knife in my pocket. Mine was a Case Trapper.
Still carry a pocket knife AND a foldin one on my belt. However, don't carry a gun in the car anymore. Unless I'm travelin.

I had guns and fishing rods in rear window. It was a great place to store it instead of bouncing around on floor. It definitely wasn’t a thing to Show off guns like many today do. Intimidation tactics. We didn’t carry them inside etc. Smoking Cigarettes. All kinds of bad stuff. I remember when Nike shoes were a new fad. It was way before people wore shirts and shorts etc with it.

I remember dweebs jacking their back end of car way up in the air to show off. I was a motor head and fully understood the idea behind a lot of engineering with cars and machines but I never thought people that did silly things ( just for a look ) had much smarts. I guess it’s maybe why I received awards and sent to Federal Base for few hours a day to work on Govt Equipment. Some kids even failed Auto and Wood shop. I remember some clothing fads that I never took part in but I was always a DJockey at school… with Country and Rock and Roll as my main library of tunes.

Good post Kerry. I gotta hit the hay. Headed south in AM to meet Saw1 etc. and fish…fish…fish.

Jeremy, as a fellow motor head you probably remember in the 70s some people would take a Pinto or Vega or some other small car and put the body on a Jeep CJ frame. Some of them looked pretty cool
