For bass I use 8 lb trilene mono line. No problems.

I feel it depends on the type of real you are using. Open face, spinning or casting. Open face can use most any type. Spinning is a little more restrictive, mono works great. But in my opinion casting requires braided. With this you have great control.

There are as many answers to this as people who fish for bass. Technique, lure, rod, reel, depth weeds all factor into this equation.

In reply to which is the best fishing line to use. Imho braid line is the best . I have never lost a fish carp with braid line. Even though it costs more it is worth it.

But how will it affect lure reaction, will it still let me work the lure like mono will ?

I like braid for certain kinds of fishing and trolling but I will get three to one hits on mono therefore more fish in the cooler.

I think it is just harder for the fish to see.

I don't give fish credit for being smart enough to know what fishing line is.

They may not be smart but they are certainly wary.

I attach about 5 feet of mono to the end of the braided line. There a a number of knots to do this. The one I use was shown to me by an old timer. Not sure if it has a name but would be hard to explain. But one thing I can say is I have broke both mono and braided but never has the knot slipped loose. And it is small, you will never notice it.

Go with braid and a fluoro leader. This defeats the seeing the braid argument. Braid has no stretch and is more sensitive to light hits. It also casts much further than mono.

Probably used a blood knot. That works. I just don’t need to be tying all the extra knots. I want to just tie on my hook or lure and fish. I think the difference in casting distance is negligible.
