Anybody on here that metal detects? I've just started about 5 months ago here in Northern AL. I have an Ace 400 and am always trying to get better with it. Wife n I keep a jar with the coins I've found. We only need to find 40000 more pennies and it'll pay for itself lol!
Maybe we can keep this thread active by posting our best find, weirdest find, most unlikely find etc.
My weirdest find hands down is a women's flat bottom shoe in a ball park dirt floor dugout. It was about 3 inches deep so it had to be there for a while.

My parents had their own metal detectors and enjoyed the hobby for a while. They found a lot of what they referred to as โ€œnew moneyโ€ after church festivals, 4th of July celebrations, etc. They did find a bunch of rings and jewelry as soon as they set their units correctly. In their opinion they tuned out nickels and their finds were more productive.
Good luck and have fun!

My Dad was big into digging around with his metal detector. Itโ€™s amazing what you will find a foot under the ground. Wedding rings??? Weโ€™re they buried on purpose?๐Ÿ˜‚. He found lots of coins and his big deal was checking around at the city park. Lots of cool things lost in a city park. I would imagine itโ€™s not legal to dig around on public property any more though. He had a blast with his.

That's the problem today, finding places that are legal and worth the bother, but I guarantee you there is no metal in my yard ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ˜‰

You've had a productive 11 yrs! I've found two rings. My first ring was a toe ring I found in TX. It's the thinnest silver I've ever seen! The second is a size 11 titanium found in OK. And yesterday I found my first silver coin!

How far are you from the salt? We did some beach searching in Freeport last month. Got a penny to prove it! Really amazed how much junk is in the sand. Since returning here, I've been learning more about discrim and using it to my advantage. I would like the opportunity to go back there and apply what I've learned.

Looks like a really nice pocket watch in left hand upper of smaller metal box. If you haven't tried to wind it please be careful if you decide to. Do NOT wind it tightly, do not force it, if does want to turn, and your curiosity overtakes ya, I would recommend an experienced older jeweler.
God did indeed bless America, now let's do our part.
