Needed a change of scenery so we took a ride Up North for the weekend. Our friends let us use their cottage from time to time so I play the role of handyman. I bring a tool bag along and try to knock off some of the items on the seemingly never-ending list. Apparently we missed the snow as ours has been gone for a few weeks. They must have gotten 4-5” a few days ago and it was partially melted, so I didn’t have to deal with that. It is very pretty when you have the option to visit as it really brightens up the woods and you can see a lot more deer. I brought an UL spinning rod along in hope to try to catch and release some trout, but the rivers are pretty high with the snow melt, flowing fast and still have plenty of ice along the edges to make it questionable. Maybe next time? The dog and I woke up to 22 degrees and a blustery light snow as the wind is blowing pretty hard. I think I will take the day off 😂
Have a great day all!

Good mornin', John. That sounds good to me, but don't work too hard. Enjoy it, and relax with Ellen a little. Have a good day.

I’d say that’s a “handy” trade off for your stay at their northern cabin OJ. Very nice of them to extend their offer and of you to lend your skills. Enjoy your day.

22* must mean no golfing either. Hope the cottage has a fire place and that morning cup taking that chill off. Enjoy the scenery, putting around the cottage and a much needed day off

That’s a nice trade for both of you. It is nice to get away from the everyday, now and then. Enjoy

That's a great arrangement John. Doing little repairs while enjoying the solitude , is almost as good as the solitude alone. Pace yourself, and I think your dog wants to get a drink from the river, so bring the rod just in case:-)

I appreciate all the encouragement, but the conditions (although very pretty) are pretty brutal for fishin’. 30mph with sideways snow is not promising. I missed my window for fishing yesterday as it was about 40 when we got here. Next time, I guess…
Sam (the Wonderdog) had 2 words for me when I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk…and the weren’t very nice. She has offered to hold down the “fort” while my lovely assistant and I go get some breakfast.

Well John, that's a little more like January than the end of March. I understand your reluctance to wet a line, but hope you enjoyed breakfast.

I had planned to drop a tree on the lake, cut it up out there and clean it up, but the shore opened up a bit with last weeks warm weather

So that took care of the tree until next Winter and no safe ice for fishing without risk
