I'm thinking that blimps or dirigibles, ought to work out better, running on electricity, than airplanes... Those batteries ain't light!

Decades ago, the "National Geographic" ran an article about a guy that had built a "solar-assisted, Human-Powered airplane"... He had actually done pretty good with it, as I recall. Must've been during the 1980's, I think.

Let's start with Hybrid planes. Spinning up the engines is not the issue. Keeping the engines alive in the event of an emergency is kind of important.

The real kicker here for me is...

We can't just go from fuel based systems to fully electric. At least without paying a helluva cost for it. AKA inflation of economic pricing.
