Wondering how many of you do not allow bananas on your fishing boat. I know there are some that strongly believe in this superstition. I know others that laugh at all superstitions

Had kids eating them threw peels in water. Attracted carp and ruined the fishing in that area

I took a tuna fish sandwich on an offshore fishing trip. When the other fishermen found out what I was eating, I was strongly admonished me and said it was bad luck. They said never bring fish along on a fishing trip. They also said to never bring bananas along.
I think bananas is a no no because when boats were transporting bananas from the tropics they were also transporting deadly spiders and some of the crew were bitten and died as a result. That’s my thought!
I now don’t bring bananas or tuna fish sandwiches.

I took a banana on a party boat once it was not well received. Since that day I don’t take them fishing but I do eat one a day.

Superstition goes back to transporting bananas. The off has from bananas makes other fruit spoil quicker. Not to mention the huge spiders that some times hitched a ride in the bunches.

A banana sandwich will help cure your upset stomach out in the ocean. I have never had a bad day on the boat with them.
