Wondering how many of you do not allow bananas on your fishing boat. I know there are some that strongly believe in this superstition. I know others that laugh at all superstitions
I take them on board at times. Eat one every day đź‘Ť
I have taken bananas on my boat before, didn't seem to make any difference.
I don’t think I’ve ever had any on board but not because I’m superstitious, just never took any along
Had kids eating them threw peels in water. Attracted carp and ruined the fishing in that area

I am not surprized there are superstitions about fishing as in eveything else. I have never heard any of them. Might be a interesting topic....what is it with bananas???
Could be superstitious or just coincidence my Cusin brought bananas 🍌 onboard and we didn’t catch anything the whole day
After that day no bananas 🍌

I often wondered about that myself 🤔
Anglers on party boats here in central NJ don't want see bananas on board!
I took a tuna fish sandwich on an offshore fishing trip. When the other fishermen found out what I was eating, I was strongly admonished me and said it was bad luck. They said never bring fish along on a fishing trip. They also said to never bring bananas along.
I think bananas is a no no because when boats were transporting bananas from the tropics they were also transporting deadly spiders and some of the crew were bitten and died as a result. That’s my thought!
I now don’t bring bananas or tuna fish sandwiches.
I took a banana on a party boat once it was not well received. Since that day I don’t take them fishing but I do eat one a day.
Superstition goes back to transporting bananas. The off has from bananas makes other fruit spoil quicker. Not to mention the huge spiders that some times hitched a ride in the bunches.
I know it’s all superstition and I’m a little that way.
But I do love me some banana pudding and bananas foster! Yum yum

A banana sandwich will help cure your upset stomach out in the ocean. I have never had a bad day on the boat with them.
