Nice catch! Sounds like there were plenty of fish to be found, and those are the perfect size for consumption! Glad that your tackle set up produced positive results!

High Yaker๐Ÿ‘, like I said the set up was a little bizarre from the norm but it was what they wanted. Looking at a couple of warmer days here but talking rain. Letโ€™s hope that flips the switch on some fat girls to make the move upstream. It was a gas on my new UL, just felt good to be near the โ€œwaterโ€ . Now I got the itch to get the boat ready for some โ€œ reelโ€ fun!
Stay safe

First open water fishing of the year for me. Went on down to the Rock River for three hours to see if things were starting to happen. Well YES was the answer, Caught 21 All small males. Water was very low and we had to work for keepers, couldn't manage three limits but 12 made it. Best of all it was a beautiful day in the 40's and the skunk stayed in his hole.

Nice job Lipsticker ๐Ÿ‘ some good eating there

Good looking fish Lip, and some fine catching on your first outing.

Only one problem Whitey, I love-em, wife loves-em and my 98# Daughter can pack-em away!
Only know of one guy that can stretch fish like that and thatโ€™s certainly not me.
Bonus is it will get Susan on my back side to get out there and provide!
Man I got it rough ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks for the update Lip. How shallow was the water? So were you fishing the jig near the bottom or near the surface? I usually fish the Wi River and I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s open yet.

Hi Mike, hereโ€™s the scoop. We fished the current brakes. Only had 4 feet of depth to work with. I started with a short drop shot rig, white floating jig. Only produced 1 fish so we figured we would use the current and see what happened. Set up was size 2 maybe a little smaller hook, a small split shot up a foot and the a float with a stem. About 3 maybe 3-1/2 feet above your hook. We used medium fat heads. Through the back just behind the dorsal fin. Trick was to get the float to lay on itโ€™s side for the drift. When the stem โ€œstoodโ€ up it was fish on! Very light bite. Almost like fishing a slip bobber .
What part of the Wisconsin do you fish? Itโ€™s a long river.

Almost felt like dancing, Ceptโ€™ I got no rhythm and would be bound to mess something up that would take way to long to heal ๐Ÿ˜…
