I am in Oregon and just purchased boat. New to ocean fishing except for the charter boats I have been on. Looking for some help/advice for halibut and lingcod.

Loader34, I see your in Oregon but you didn’t mention what part. You also said you just got a boat, what kind, how big, size of motor or motors? Depends on the bay your going out to sea from as to how dangerous it is also. Example: The bay out of Bandon ( Coquille River) is one of the hardest to get out of and can be very dangerous. The one out of Charleston (Coos) is one or the milder ones, but all depend on weather and current. Be safe

I’ve been looking at boats also I found one at Cabela’s 26,000 $ Tracker. But I’m 72 and every one says your 72 how many times are you going to use it before you get too old?? Look at how many charter’s you can go on for that money or how many trips you can go on. ??? I can see what they are saying but still

It more fun having your own boat my 2cent 👍🏽👍🏽

At 84 I can no longer pull my 15 ft Smoker Craft Alaskan boat out of the back yard to hook it up so unless I find someone younger and stronger I don't get to use it
