Bass to catch and Sheepshead to eat !
Here's one a friend caught Monday. Wish I was with him.
Bonefish in a place that had plenty of them.
I have never been fishing for them, but I would have to say Halibut. Love to eat 'em.
Mackerel, Striped Bass or Trout. Can't decide!

My favorite species has to be jumbo yellow perch. The world record is only about three pounds so I don’t need big gear. Lol
Toss up between catfish and halibut. I love to catch and eat both!

Hardly any mention of Steelhead and Salmon. They are my favorites here in No. Calif. and So. Oregon!
👍😀 It’s mostly a west coast thing Kyle.
We did share them with the Great Lakes region so there are some fanatics up there also. I’m surprised that a few haven’t weighed in.
I think that a persons favorite is going to be one of the species that they have the most readily accessible to them. After all, we just want to be out there trying to catch something….just sayin!
Mine would be White/Hybrid bass. Fun to catch and excellent to eat. Like them better than crappie or catfish to eat.
Any fish that ends with the last four letters of B A S S 😉
I suppose I would have to go with the fish that I have spent the most time pursuing and that would be the largemouth bass.
If I could add another comment… I think the most fun I’ve ever had fishing inland lakes was for striped bass and the fish that I am now learning to enjoy pursuing at Bull Shoals Lake, in MO, is the walleye.

But hands down I would have to say Smallmouth 🇺🇸🎣😀👍
I'm a little surprised I didn't see Salmon and/or Steelhead on this list. I think Steelhead are one of my fav's to fish for. Fun to catch if you're lucky enough and definitely good to eat.
SnakeHead and catfish love them both to catch and eat
Laugh if you want, but I only get to freshwater fish. The hardest fighting fish are carp, while the best tasting are crappie and catfish a close 2nd.
Just my opinion.

Trout and striped bass, both for fun and eating.
