You have the correct info. From WDFW.
The dates and beaches were all set as “tentative” last fall. This is so that people can plan for the digs and reserve RV parks, or lodging. Pre-COVID, WDFW would announce an opening at a certain beach 2 or 3 days before. That didn’t go over too well as you can imagine.
I have signed up on the WDFW website for notifications. So I get an email. Notification is also sent out to the newspapers that the dates have been approved, usually 3 or 4 days before the first tentative date. So, there should be an update to confirm that the dates are approved some time next week. You will also be able find that info on the WDFW website.
Long Beach is scheduled to be open on all of the next dates except for Feb. 3.

So I’m getting confused. Next week is open or it’s when they will update the open dates? Sorry I don’t want to get excited and then find out can’t go anyway. I will probably get another person or few to go but don’t want to share wrong information

The dates that you see as “tentative”, Jan 29th-Feb 3rd are the next set of open dates. The WDFW will change their status from “tentative” to “open” some time next week prior to Saturday the 29th after they have checked the Dominic Acid levels to make sure that they are safe.
The current open dates were Jan. 14-20. So, it is still open tomorrow and Thursday.
Clamming is closed next week. Actually it is closed from the 21st through the 28th.
It opens again on 29th if the Dominic levels are determined to be safe. WDFW will test next week and let us know.

👍🏻

Thanks I was figuring that but I was reading and wife is here grading etc. on laptop. dog retrieving his duck etc.

I appreciate the details too big time.

Let me know if and when you get a campsite set up at your place up North too. I think that would be really cool to check out.

I go to Wilipa but it’s been different in last few years As we all know.

I live in Vancouver, Washington about 10 miles south of Portland, Oregon, just across the Columbia River.

My preferred fishing is Tenkara - I have 10', 12', and 13.5' poles. I also fish for salmon and steelhead on our many rivers in WA and OR. The Pacific Coast is about 1.5 hours away, so I do some surf fishing and crabbing over there from time to time. I keep WA and OR licenses and tags, so have the flexibility to go where I hear the creatures are.

Also do some clamming and crawdad picking, stuff like that. Mostly, though, it's nice trout and some bass using the Tenkara rods.

Thanks for a great forum - I really enjoy reading about fishing in all parts of our great country.
