Back in the day we would catch more Bass with less tackle choices and definitely less technology what's up with that

Spent more time fishing instead of changing baits trying to deside what to throw

Back in the day you would keep your bass and cook them. At a Bass tournament they would clean the fish and have a fish fry after the tournament. Now you release the fish so those fish want bite the same thing that got them the last time. So you have to try a different lure to fool them. LOL. Sounds good to me.
The fish are getting smarter because they are always in schools?

Gordon you're in the ball park. I think back then it my a15 fish limit. I know so places have been over fished. MD had no limits on Catfish yrs ago now it's 5. Some places have a size limit on bluegills. Also been those that took everything they could. Some fisheries are flush with nice bass. I'll say it again put today's pros in a tournament where they can only use what the original pros used n see how they do. ๐
Well, Considering the increased number of fishermen, the advanced technology, both in lures, tackle and electronics in searching and finding fish, is it any wonder that things have changed? Fish have to grow smarter to survive, I suppose the dumb ones don't survive long. Just Sayin...RJS

I never use live bait for bass Henry. I did in the past for Catfish n panfish. Use mostly worms some minnows. No circle hooks back then
