Went fishing over here on Maui and caught some funny looking fish. They are really pretty but taste a little odd.
The are quite a good fighter for their size, around 11--12 inches long

Cool looking fish, I’d imagine it would have fought like a bluegill on steroids?

Good Mornin', sdcmaui, all fish are beautiful. Did you get the green apple two steps when you ate it? If not, you are o.k.

The reef triggerfish, also known as the rectangular triggerfish, wedgetail triggerfish or by its Hawaiian name humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa, is one of several species of triggerfish. It is found at reefs in the Indo-Pacific and is the state fish of Hawaii.

That would have been my guess ,a type of Triggerfish, caught many Triggerfish in Baja and pretty much the same shape, and very good eating,
