I know that this is hard to believe, but I have seen it twice on Pike in Northern Canada .2 different lakes and 2 different years and both lures were lost by a fishing partner and he caught the same fish that he lost a day or two later. Would have a hard time believing it myself if I wasn't with him.

I recently had a line fail and I failed (lazy) to change until I lost 3 big Striper Schoolies (guessing at least 30 inches). So 3 fish with a 1 oz bucktail and a bright bubblegum tail attached out there now.

Braid was old and hacked up from structures and oysters in SC. And then from the first big Striper rubbing up against the cement pier I fish off here in Brooklyn.

Photo is around average size I’m catching now.

Three of us caught a 45 pound chinook below bonnevile dam a few years back on the Columbia River. I caught it first. My rod tip slammed the water and I set the hook. Fought this monster for about a minute and my line started to, slowly, go slack. My buddy had a big hit about then and he set the hook and the same thing happened. Pretty soon I had another smack and same scenario. We looked at each other like🤷‍♂️. About that time I got another hit. Same thing. My buddy that owned the boat said “hey look. That guy above us ha a fish on and he don’t even know it. The guy was asleep in his chair and his rod was bent over going nuts. My buddy yelled at him “HEY!!! YOU GOT A FISH ON!!!” The guy didn’t wake up. I threw a sinker and it landed in his boat. That woke him up. We hollered “YOU GOT A FISH ON!!!”. The guy jumped up, set the hook and it was fish on. He unhooked from his anchor and followed the fish down the river a ways and got it in his boat. When he got back held up the big fish and said “I caught it but I didn’t hook it” we were like “what.” Someone had hooked that fish from the bank and it spilled them. The guy that ended up with the fish hooked a nest of line about 4 feet away from the fish. He held up the rats nest of line with the fish still attached and there was a ball of bait and a hook in the fish’s mouth but his quick-fish was tangled in the line 4 feet from the fish. The fish had, obviously gone under our boat and hooked our lines a few times after the guy above us snagged the ball of line. That don’t happen often down there. The guy filleted the fish and gave us all some later👍. He said “it was a group effort and I would have, probably slept through it had you guys not pitched a sinker at me and woke me up”. He even gave my sinker back😂
