I helped a couple of hunters, who had claimed this road kill. I had them bring it to the house and helped salvage the Elk. They ended up with 216#of meat. Yesterday, I received a Work-sharp knife sharpener from Amazon. They had somehow gotten my address and sent it as a thank you. I had actually almost bought the same unit during the Christmas season sales. Nice unexpected surprise.

Awesome. I remember this post for sure. I had just gotten a Roadkill Deer here in Oregon and did my Permit etc online. That’s awesome Dakota.

Beautiful animal Dakoda, you did a good deed and were well rewarded. I’ve got a worksharp Ken Onion and absolutely love it as I’m sure you will. Anything from mower blades, axes , kitchen knives to fillet knives. Used to hand sharpen but that unit does it in a fraction of the time

And they say no good deed goes unpunished. It’s always nice when a good deed is appreciated and rewarded. Some good karma there!

Sad to lose a nice bill like that, but at least some of it got salvaged. Very nice of you to help them out and you got a nice gift in return.

For sure. Most the western states have a Roadkill Harvest Permit process here now. Idaho was the first several years ago. You just follow the Permit Process online and your all good. It was a major bust until the Permits were legalized. If Fish and Game get suspicious of you they will show up with warrants to search your premises and all vehicles and other premises you own.

Wrong! But we see what your intent is here. The topic is about doing something nice for someone and they show their appreciation for it. You can google and yack all you want but you’re wrong about most of what you post. I live in Idaho and I’ve picked up three road killed deer and a road killed elk. Saw them happen. I called the game and fish Officer in my area and he just told me to go ahead and grab em and thanks for letting him know. I’ve not applied for, received, or even HAD to get a permit of any kind for any of them. I processed the meat and gave it to people who needed it. That’s the way it works in Idaho. Same thing in Montana. My daughter hit a deer on her way home to Kalispell and she contacted authorities. They asked the usual questions and then wondered if she knew anyone who could come get the meat before it went to waste. They came out, looked at the carcass and told her she could call her friends to come get it. They tagged the deer and left. Her friends showed up shortly after and salvaged the deer. No permit issued. In Wyoming you have to get an interstate game tag for road kill if you want to have it processed at a meat processing facility. If not you contact game and fish and they will meet you at the kill site to verify it’s a road kill. No permit required just confirmation it wasn’t poached. The internet really isn’t solid facts like Facebook or twitter🥴

Flyguy, it was hit by a semi. The driver never even stopped to check his truck. Must have been worried about a ticket or something anyway.

Jeremy, it say’s it’s a Mk2 knife & tool sharpener. Model WSKTS2. I was going to buy one, but never got it done. I tried it out on a couple of kitchen knives. There were already fairly sharp, but they took a good edge and I’m pretty excited to bring in my hunting knives to give them a edge. It’s supposed to sharpen knives, scissors and yard tools, like mower blades and axes.
