All our vets should get the best treatment available. All of you have done the best you could now we should reciprocate. Thanks to all our veterans

I agree Frank. It’s frustrating how some veterans get lots of things and others get nothing and we all served the same country during the same periods. I know people younger than me who COULDN’T have served during active war time during the Vietnam war but they’re getting healthy compensation for “war time injuries”. I’m 66 and was too young to be involved in the, actual, war even though I volunteered to join the military. I suppose it boils down the squeaky wheel thing and I don’t complain enough. When I joined my grandparents said “one good thing is you’ll have medical insurance for life when you eat out”. I’m glad they’re not here to see what I got. Served my country for 4 years, discharged honorably and kicked to the curb ever since. The doctor I had at the VA in Wyoming told me I could qualify for a few different disability avenues. I never pursued any of them because I’ve been able to work and get by just fine my whole life. Too many people just jump on board for free tax dollars n their pocket when they really don’t have much wrong with them at all. The way I look a it is if a person can go fishing, hunting, traveling, vacationing, work at doing just about anything they want to do then the American tax payer should not be paying extra taxes to cover their rocking chair pay check. That’s just me. Then, at the same time, I’m seeing billions and billions of those same tax dollars being spent on free medical care, free airfare, free housing and a host of other free things for i*****l i*******ts from the south. Maybe I should have taken that doctor up on his offer 40 years ago. I’m glad I didn’t because I sleep well knowing I’m not part of the deficit problem.

You might want to get that VA medical ball rolling. You're not getting any younger and health issues seem to mount up as we age. Won't take long for private medical care to eat through any set asides for that purpose.

I’ll keep after it but for the last ten years it’s just been road block after road block. My biggest problem is my age. I’m a Vietnam “era” veteran but at 66 years old I was too young to have been in during active war time. Since I didn’t set foot on foreign soil in an active war zone I guess I don’t qualify for my medical any more? That’s the story I got all the time anyway. It was all good until 2009. When I tried to utilize it in Oregon they said I couldn’t because I was not registered with the state of Oregon and I made too much money at the time. Oregon VA staff advised me to just go to the local ER if I needed medical attention or go to Portland and get on a waiting list to see a doctor. I think my strongest opposition was, simply, living in Oregon at the time. Actually I think I do qualify now since I’m on social security and not making $100,000.00 plus annually. I’ll dig into it again and see what happens.👍

Yeh, no active wartime takes the shoe horn away. There are many veteran organizations out there with very knowlegible members. The American Legion comes to mind. They might make smoother sailing. A VFW member helped me through the maze. You might even tiptoe into your local and get some help. Face to face is much better than on line.
You are still a Vet and deserve just dues. Goodluck.

Thanks. My local is 4 hours away so I’ll attempt a visit next time I get in that neck of the woods.
