Makin beef and noodles tomorrow . Deriniyely one of my top 3 favorite foods in the world

Starting out with a couple really nice ribeyes
Sear pretty good in iron skillet
Put the steaks in the crock pot with a quart of beef broth , a couple handfuls of diced portables mushrooms , a small diced onion , salt and pepper to taste and a pinch of thyme
Cook on high all day.
When tender, break up the steaks and add Kluski egg noodles. As noodles cook , keep an eye on liquid level. Add water as necessary.
Serve up with mashed potato’s and peas.

Skipt the noodles potatoes and peas, brake up a head of cauliflower and throw it in. Your will have a Keto dish. You can do just about anything with cauliflower that you can with a potato but French fries.

My wife started baking cauliflower in the oven to cut down on all the potatoes I like to eat. She breaks the heads up, puts them in a bowl and coats them with olive oil and adds salt and pepper. Cauliflower goes on a baking sheet at 425 degrees until they just start to turn dark, about 25 to 30 minutes. They are surprisingly good. Sometimes, like to give them a splash of Tapatio hot sauce for a different taste.

Marion, cauliflower is excellent battered and deep fried, like chicken or fish would be. Never tried it without doing that, but when I do try it, I'll let y'all know how it comes out. If that works, lots of other experiments will follow, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm drooling, but don't think I can give up a ribeye for this dish. My late Mom would turn over if I used anything other than chuck, she never fully recovered from living through the Great Depression.

My Mom too, She said once her greatest fear was being in debt. She was born before the depression in a large family and luckily her dad was a horse and buggy mailman so had a small income and small farm. and lived thru it.

I don't think anyone did. Those were some bad times.

I've had French fried cauliflower and it ain't bad. Used to feed it to us in the Navy. But then, I love the stuff any way it's prepared.

Hey, Spirit ! Never had cauliflower
fried before ! Sounds interesting !
Do you think you could PM the
recipe to me ? Sounds like
something I'd like to try !

As for the gumbo, I'm gonna take
a stab at it come Mardi Gras time !
Our buddy Fourchon sent me a
recipe for crawfish cornbread, so I may try that to complement the gumbo for Mardi Gras, as well !

I've made jambalaya a time or two, and a similar dish called pastalaya (with fettucine) - loaded that one
up with chicken, andouille sausage
and shrimp, and it got rave reviews from my buddy and a former
neighbor couple ! Will definitely be doing that one again for some
special occasion !

Some dishes I like to make are
sometimes either labor intensive,
expensive (or both) so they're
saved for certain events like
holidays, birthdays, etc.! Dishes
like lasagna, spanakopita and pastalaya are prime examples !

Well, I'm in my new 'digs' now -
moved everything in and got quite
a bit done since Wednesday noon !
Still digging through boxes and bins for certain items, but should be settled in within a few more days !

Merry Christmas and a Happy,
Healthy and Prosperous New
Year to you and yours !
