It also runs west to east.

The two plates that cause the fault are moving north and south. People joke about California falling into the ocean, but what's really gonna happen is one day you'll be able to out toward the Pacific from you window in San Francisco and see you someone looking back at you from Los Angeles. At a rate of less than an inch per year, it's gonna take a while, but rest assured, that science is settled.

Thank you Ed for the thank you. Lot of folks show up, ask for advice, are given good advice and welcomed and then they never show up again to let us know how we did or that they appreciated it. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine, so I like to let folks know that we do appreciate it when folks get back to us. Please stay in touch and let us know how you do? You just never know when might be able to help some of us out.

Ed h getyourseff some chest waders and get in the water opens up a lot more places to cast to.just be sure your.careful of drop offs etc a deeper fish finder is good for getting the lay of the bank before you go walking in they're.pretty reasonably priced you cast it out and it'll give you the read out on your phone or tablet made for bank fisherman and a portable.unit for kayakers and it shows you wherever the fish are

Gotcha a possible solution, dude !
I hear this guy named Vespucci is promoting these new-fangled drawings on paper that supposedly show things like roads and lakes and rivers and oceans and mountains..... he's calling them MAPS.
A buddy of mine saved up some coin of the realm, and managed to purchase one......and now claims that he'll not get lost ever again..... love the guy like a brother, but he's a fisherman, so you kinda gotta take everything he says with a grain of salt, 'ya know.
Who knows ? Maybe he's on to something.... we'll see, huh ?

Wish I could recall that Vespucci guy's first name, it sounded kinda familiar......Amerrycan, Amerrycan't, Amerrycuss, Amerrygo....round ???
Old age, I guess.... gotta start writing this stuff down while I'm still lucid. Anyways... good luck.
Gotcha a possible solution, dude ! br I hear this ... (show quote)

If lost in the wild a map is not much good without a compass if I could only have one it would be the compass

I realize you live in " the grey north" part of our fair state (we've had a week of that lately), but even through the fog and low clouds, sunrise and sunset allow me to orient a map..... but yeah, compasses are a good thing.
My, how times have changed.....my Forester has a digital one built into the mirror..... so much for the "orienteering" I learned with my "official Boy Scout" 'Silva' compass 56 or 57 years ago.....still got it.

But best fishing is on the coast. This time of year start with the main stipe of the eel, then Van Duzen, the mad, Redwood Creek, Klamath, Smith River, cross the border into Oregon a little The Chetco, go north 20 The Roguel, sixes,on and on. Look em up on google maps. We live in Crescent City, all those rivers are within 75 miles.
The best salmon and steelhead fishing in the world. Fish have been holed up in the estuares waiting for rain so they can go up river and spawn and there are lots of them. Until we get a bit more rain they won't bite. Picky Picky. With rivers low like they are use sand shrimp and a bobber. Any bait shop can rig you up. Good luck and enjoy God's Country. The Smith and The Chetco give up some real Lunkers (30 - 40 lb).
