So I get to Beseck, and from the parking lot the water looks a little low. No problem, loaded the boat, and drove down to the ramp. Ut-Oh, it looks real low, lets try anyway. Backed the trailer off the end of the ramp, and didn't stop until all 4truck tires are in the water. Get out and the boat is still sitting on the bunks.Hmmmmmm, this isn't gonna work. Drive back up to the lot, unload the boat, and head for Zoar.
Launched at Zoar, and since I banged up my good prop last time I decided to stay within a mile of the ramp, and try not to damage my spare. Only tried a couple spots for Bass, with no takers, but nibbles from smaller fish.
Got out the 5' ultralight, with a pearl white 1/16oz jig head and a curly tailed shad. BAM! almost every other cast was attacked by Yellow Perch. Unfortunately they were pretty small, maybe 1/2lb for the bigger ones. I got 7 in the boat, and probably lost that many more. I was trying to get a JB style, bent rod picture, but every time I tried they got off. I had a blast with that little rod. Right before I called it quits I threw a couple casts with my medium, finesse rod. It felt like a Surf rod after using the tiny one LOL. After a crappy start, I had a ball. Much better than working.
Water level didn't look bad from here
Looks a lot lower from here, oh well
Normal water level at Zoar, still lots of wood along the banks.
Still working on the I-84 bridge replacement.
They look better in the sun, than in the shade
The ultralight compared to the medium power finesse rod
Gotta love the action on light weight tackle.
Looks like you had some fun anyway.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks OZ, it turned out to be a fun day.
Fred, that didn't look too much like low water to us here in California! Some of our biggest reservoirs might show a half mile of bare dirt at the end of summer!

No doubt Barny, I can't believe some of the pictures I've seen from out there. I've heard Saw and them say that they were extending ramps so you could use the lakes. I wasn't about to sink my truck in the mud, especially since I was the only one there. This was a seasonal drawdown, they just did it a month early. Normally done December 1st.

Thanks Danger, it turned out to be a fun, if shorter, day.
Looks good Fred. You ended up catching some fish and having a good day. They do a draw down on the dam here in the winter also and it makes it rough to get the boat in Getting into the mud when no-one is around sucks. Glad it all worked out for you

Thanks Slim. They do a few around here, usually for dam inspections and for people to work on their docks. Those are usually 10-15 days then they bring it back up to normal. The winter ones are usually around December 1st, and stay down till spring.

Thanks Jmk, it was a blast. I still haven't tried for the Walleyes, but they say they hang just below the dam.
4.5 foot quantum microlight rod.
Favorite for most fishing.
Have a few with larger reels love hearing the line being pulled off.
Lots of fun on those UL rods Fred, congrats on a nice meal.
