Had an airline cancel me out with no chance of a flight for four days. Packed three kids and 3 adults into my Tahoe at 0200 and drove the Florida. Team driving , made it in under 14 hours. Only had three pot stops, and I was the only male in the truck. CDB and Toby Keith are my favorite " keep me alert" songs.
I use to be able to make those long trips. Camp Lejeune to Hagerstown 2 or 3 times a month. One stop for gas on trips to OBX. Sometimes it's a chore to get to Harrisburg. 🥴
Glad you made it Four. I used to drive to my parents in NY from Nashville 21hrs in my MG midget with no heat and bad shocks. Did it once in a snowstorm. Had to keep stopping to wipe the ice off the wipers. Just got behind a truck and stayed there till he pulled off. Scary, crazy drive but I was in my 20s then. You're made of tougher stuff! Couldn't do it now.
And all those songs are good but relate perfectly to "I Can't Drive 55!"

Yeah, when I was in quartermaster school at Ft Lee VA I would make the run on weekends to northh Jersey in 6 hours.
Glad you made it safe FF, beautiful drive but not in the rain huh? Unfortunately done it too many times, but soak in all the rain you can, that way you'll be able enjoy the sunshine when you get home! Have a great time!!

Have a safe trip FF.
Time has come today by the Chamber Brothers and In-The-Gadda-Devida by the Iron Butterfly are good long songs for a road trip.
White Rabbit, I can’t remember who sung it.
I would listen to these when going on a long trip up north on Friday after work to go surfing.
Oh yeah, on 8 tracks before cassettes.

Morning Kandy,
I had a MG Midget once in my younger days, sold it after spinning it on the freeway. I turned the wheel real quick to avoid a squirrel luckily the freeway wasn’t crowded, back in the sixties then.
Traded it in for a new 68 Camaro.
Now if a squirrel runs out in front of me their toast.
For Plum....it was Kenny Loggins with "Danger Zone".
For LarryM.....it was Gracie Slick and the Jefferson Airplane..."and the ones your Mother gives you, don't do anything at all".....
Definitely gotta have tunes on a road trip..... but then, I am celebrating half a century since my purchase of a cassette of "Uncle John's Band" to listen to, on the way from Kansas to South Padre Island, for spring break.....we Deadheads gotta have our "Jerry fix" on road trips, for sure !
PS....FF...if you came up I-5, you passed within ~2000 yards of my place, as you entered Medford, Oregon. Honk next time !

Been driving to Kalispell Montana for over twenty years now, fourteen hours on the first day then twelve hours the next day.
Next time going to fly then rent a car.
Should cost about the same to fly if you consider the cost of fuel, food and one nights stay at a hotel.
Then we won’t have to drive through Salt Lake City, almost as bad as driving through Los Angeles.

Thanks.
What’s great about smartphones is that you can listen to these songs anytime you want to.

I think the singer was Gracie Slick.
