Yellow perch very good eating I wish we had them in my part california, heck I don’t even know if california has them at all. I did though fish for them in fall at fish lake Utah. Used slip sinker and Crappie jigs.

Crappiejed. Slip sinker to get the crappie jig down quicker to where the fishing are 🤔

CJ - I have to chuckle; there was a very spirited thread this past summer on the topic of perch in general and whether there were any yellow perch in CA in particular. Topic search "What is this fish called in your neck of the woods" around the end of July. Very entertaining! Wait, you've been on the stage since 2020, so you probably remember it.

Oh no Gravity I missed that one I will check it out. After Trophy Brown trout perch my favorite especially very large Gilbert’s that take two hands to hold or at least lip hold

The only way I have caught perch is with a worm (red worm or partial crawler) under a slip bobber

My go to (also crappie) is a 1/8 oz. round head jig with a dropper line with swivel snap pin for varied weight sizes. A 1/32 oz. round head jig tied above it. both jigs tied on drop shot style. On the bigger jig, I put a split 1 &1/2 inch yellow or chartreuse in front of white or pearl tube worm. On the smaller hook I put a 1 inch tube the same color. If not fishing directly below the boat, I use a clip on float to barely suspend the weight and jigs I am using. swivel pin for weight - 1 foot up 1/8 oz. jig, one foot up 1/32 oz. jig then clip on stick float at varied depths. I try to use the smallest weight and float I can to get the casting distance I need. sometimes the swivel pin is enough weight without adding lead. If fishing is slow, or I have a fish fry planned, I add a 1/2 by 1/4 strip of perch with skin to the larger jig.

Note: in some states, use only the belly strip below the ribs. Your cut up perch is part of your limit.

A tandem spinner, 1 fore and 1 aft, with the trailing hook tipped with a little bit of garden hackle (worm or nightcrawler). Cast and retrieve, or slow troll.
