Try this youtube video. RITCTROX has a few tutorials on reading the beach.

Structure such as pier, docks and moving water. Remember fish are ambush predators

The obvious is look for birds and busting water. Less obvious, look at wave action, indicate sandbars and bowls where water channels out. Look for boulder fields, even at low tide if there ai a few feet of water they are lying in wait. Good luck, keep casting.

Obtain a real-live navigation chart and study it. Talk to more experienced fishermen... It all depends upon your "Target Species"; as to WHERE and whith what "bait" &/or "Fishing Method"... As well as time of day, may well be a valid consideration; depending upon ¿What do I REALLY want for dinner?

Here are three articles that I have written on how to find saltwater spots. Surf fishing is different from creek fishing. But all inshore fishing is about structure. Google Earth is the best tool to start with.
