Thanks bric. Gorgeous. Were you doing the casting bubble to present those hoppers?+

Yes, always bring a spinning rod for back up to fly rod when I hike in as far to a lake like this. I actually broke the tip on my fly rod before I even made a cast yesterday. That’s two years in a row now breaking my fly rod. Another side story.

Nice catching Bric and Kelsey! That's a beautiful lake Bric, and clear as well. Where are the Bears, on the opposite shore?
Thanks for the pictures.

They were to the right in first pic posted. It happened pretty quick, phone was not handy. And I was yelling to warn my daughter, she had her knuckle head lab with her, trying to avoid a bear vs dog encounter, lol. They looked to be a couple yearlings, don’t know if mama bear was around.

Tim… can you please keep those fish alive, and ship directly to me… I promise to set them free 😉

Ha yeah I bet you would JB! But there’s plenty of trout where you catch your bass.

Beautiful pics Bric, made some irreplaceable memories with your daughter. Noticed you were using spinning gear, we’re you fishing with a water weighted casting bubble?

Yes bk, you may have seen my other replies. We had a big lab along, not well behaved, think he may have stepped on my fly rod. Glad I had a backup. My daughter and I just traded off with the spinning rod.

Sure looks like nice destination buddy. Glad it was Black Bears over Brown but also glad the Knucklhead lab didn’t learn what critters help manage the forest.

Thanks for sharing hopefully can put new tip on the flyrod.

Bric, nice memories with your daughter. Costco has bear spray, it’s supposed to deter even grizzlies.

Avoiding Brown Bears is better than relying on bear spray. You ever had spray paint that didn't work? a lighter that malfunctioned. A gun can just get a bear ticked. I enjoy viewing wild animals ( the ones I don't hunt) at a safe distance and would recommend it to others for sure.

I got on Redington website and they have a tip section in stock. Should be on its way. Last year when it broke I had to mail in the entire rod. Took 8 months for the replacement to come.
