I went a year w/o fishing in Nam. Other than that, I have never gone a year without a catch sense age 7. It is what it is Spirit. I ran charter boats for 15 years and only had 3 tips with a skunk. It can and does happen. As for my last fish, it was a week ago on my last trip out. We caught about a dozen sole and ten crabs, along with some stag horned sculpin (often called bullheads). I have not been posting as the catch has been similar each time out this year. I can photo and post if that is what is wanted. Not many crab post in the future as this is the last weekend of the season.

I know it is what it is. And the only pressure on me to catch fish is what I put on myself. It's just kinda puzzling because like I said I've never gone this long without a single trout. I'm doing the same things I've always done, same places I've always been successful and using the same baits. Just nothing happening. Hasn't kept me home though, know what I mean? Cooler weather is going to produce some fish. I'm sure of it. Makes for an embarrassing situation when I offer advice to someone on here. What the hell do I know?
If you think that is embarrassing, try a skunk day as the skipper of a charter boat. It even sucks when the clients get a ton of bites.

How many days, weeks, or months have you gone without catching a single fish?
I believe it has been almost a year for me. Seems as if every time I get the urge to go fishing, something comes up to thwart the plan. I am not really complaining, lots to do around here and and at family homes and farms. However, I almost never get skunked while fishing. Right now the mountain re shaping here is taking a lot of time and energy. 150,000 cuyds of rock, stone and dirt takes a while. Plus the timbering to have a place to move the material took a bit of time. Maybe next month......... I like fall fishing, not too many boats on the lakes.
I've gone 8 years skunked...no bite no nothing.... still gunna keep trying cuz I don't know how to quit...
Hi Gene, Iv bee told many times not to use lures, etc what everybody else is using. Iv tried using different presentations but in California every where you go is so high pressured I don't know if it makes a difference. I think the fish just flat out get spooked with all the traffic

Three weeks for Bass. But i will pick up a bluegill rig and catch a couple anytime I want. Bass skunk yes. Total, nothing, nada, only until I switch species. That switch takes many hours.
this weekend will be 9 weeks straight without a day off, apparently there's a labor shortage π
Between work & working on my oldest son house, doesn't leave a lotta R&R time.
Not complaining, it is what it is
what about married ones.... they count?

Not skunked today! Hooked up with four of theses today. First one spit the hook hauling it up to the top of the dam. The fourth one was too big to get up. I had 20lb braid but there are sharp rocks on the way up. Pole was bent in half and couldnβt get clear. Have to use the frog pole next time. These two made the journey up and released into the lake.

About 30 feet. With sharp jagged edges. I donβt do this often. 3 times in 6 years. Donβt like loosing fish to a cut line. Thx.
