I like that explanation. Brilliant.
It’s called a boom boom frog from Stanford baits. It’s a hollow body frog with a patch of Velcro type material on its back that helps the frog stay in the fishes mouth by sticking to its sand paper - like teeth. The boom boom frog also has an eye attached to the underside of the frog, making it look kinda like a dying fish lying on its side. I believe tacklewarehouse still carries them .....My 2cents...
Yeah, it’s kinda $$. But I’ve caught numerous fish with it and it makes a cool tok - tok noise when you get it swimming. Megabass has a cheaper ( 20.00 ) model called an I- Jack. Same principal , same tok - tok noise.

I've got the same old answer= Hula Popper or Jitterbug. That Velcro trick, sounds like it might help on ANY sort of lure!
Jointed Arbogast Jitterbug.

Slap myself on the forehead! I shoulda thought that bass teeth slop backards and will snag Velcro. Wonder if I can add it to other lures? No wonder I never made the big bucks and folks always called me "half fast".
lm - I have a huge roll of velcro tape I picked up at a Harbor Freight tent sale more than 10 yrs. ago that now might actually get some use!
Defiantly either a popper or a wake bait like a spook
