I'm working on getting my rods changed to braid with leaders. Im exited to see the difference on managing bird nets.

Make sure when you wind your braided line on your real that it comes off the spool in the same direction as your line goes on the real. You will have less tangles and birds nests.

I'll do that thanks. So far I bought 80lb for my heavy rod. And 20lb on my others. I have various lines ranging in lbs for leaders I want to target bass, catfish, trout and Thinking of carp. As thats what's round near by.

Spirit, I went to Sunline FC Sniper after a pro here on Lake Fork mentioned it to me. I Googled the brand and found that it has a lot of "followers". He told me to use a lot of "Reel Magic" before going out. And don't use any lures less than a quarter ounce. Anything less, use braid with a FC leader on your spinning reel.

I fish some in Arkansas in clear water and the 6 lb. has worked well for me. Hope this helps.

I'm gonna put new line on one of my spinning reels that I use for smaller fish - small trout and panfish. I normally only use fluoro as a leader, not a main line. I use Vanish for leader usually and I'm happy with it. When it first came out it was crap, but I think Berkley improved it and it's now pretty good line. Anyone else got a favorite fluoro? I'm thinking going maybe 8 or 10 pound test.

all my freshwater leaders are flouro , I like to use Yozuri in the 2-6 lb range and the seagar in the 8 to 20 lb range. no memory issues and tie nice to braid.

While we're on the subject of lines....has anyone tried "NANOFIL" ? Just bought some 6lb for a UL set-up to try, and wonder if I should use a flouro leader, like I do with other "braid" ? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Also wonder if anyone has tried this new "Beyond Braid" that I keep getting pop-up ads for, haven't even seen it on shelves yet.

Several good fluoros out there. Sunline , Suffix , Seaguar come to mind . My personal favorite is sunline. Seems to have less memory....My 2cents

Yes Fix, I use 8lb and 12lb Nanofil on my Spinning rods. I usually use matching lb.fluoro leaders. But, several times when bit off by Pike, I've retied directly sans leader, and still caught Bass. For trout you'll probably want to add a leader just for the invisibility. I like the Nanofil for casting distance, and sensitivity. It transmits light hits like braid.

Thanks Fred. Have quizzed many of my friends and thus far, no one has any experience. Most have been curious like me. I'll pass on your đź‘Ť.

Anyone got any opinions on spiderwire ultracast? They claim it's nearly invisible. Pretty expensive. Worth it?

I have a reel with 6lb spiderwire that I like just fine. Don’t know if it ultra cast, got it on sale too. Might still have the package.

Sorry guys I type that last message on my phone. It never works well. Kind of like fishing for bluegill with a 7 inch senko. The outcome is entirely predictable. Just don’t do it.

First off, I've been fishing for 62 years and hope that after trying just everything in the tackle dept., personally, I have settled on braided line with fluorocarbon LEADER material at the end, regardless of how I am rigged : free line, cork, artificial. And I am finally satisfied with this set-up and I hope it's not against this sites rules at naming a brand, but I only use Sufix braid, but I really like PowerPro also. As for what I would use for trout and pan fish, it would depend on how much you fish in medium to heavy wind. My first choice would be 20#[6# mono dia.] braid with a 8# leader. The problem with that light of a line in the aforementioned wind is it will "wind knot". In a windy situation I would be fishing 40# braid[10# mono dia.] w/ 8# leader. JMUO. Good fishing with what ever you choose.....
