I'm gonna put new line on one of my spinning reels that I use for smaller fish - small trout and panfish. I normally only use fluoro as a leader, not a main line. I use Vanish for leader usually and I'm happy with it. When it first came out it was crap, but I think Berkley improved it and it's now pretty good line. Anyone else got a favorite fluoro? I'm thinking going maybe 8 or 10 pound test.

I use 6, 8, & 10lb Vanish as leaders as well as on a few of my set ups. I have know more problems with it than I do mono. Really like braid to a leader. Braid has no or little memory.

I once spooled with straight fluro on my trout spinning rod, 4# test Vanish about two years ago. Unless it’s been improved I’ll not use it again. As a leader it was fine but had too much memory on my small spinning reel.

I also use fluoro as a leader. I did like bknecht and spooled an entire reel with it. Problem after problem, mostly related to line memory. Ended up unspooling it and now only use it as a leader. I'm also a proponent of braided line with a fluoro leader.

I love triline florocarbon never have any problems and I fish with 12 to 15 lb floro for largemouth bass it’s never too expensive I pay like 7.99 to 9.99 for 300 yards you don’t need to buy that super expensive floro it’s not like we’re fishing professional tournaments

Me, I not a flouro user, it has its uses and I've used Vanish in the past on some applications. Never had any issues

I think a good compromise is a good copolymer line. I use some of that. Mostly floro or braid. Only time i use a leader is with high vis line.

Anyone got any opinions on spiderwire ultracast? They claim it's nearly invisible. Pretty expensive. Worth it?

Like I said in your other post, I'm a cheapskate at heart.

Not fluoro, its virtually invisible under water.
But it's 400%stronger than the 2lb he was using.

I've been using braid with a fluoro leader for years now Sinker. Mainly because I like that fact that it has no stretch - just feels right to me, know what I mean? Mono stretches and I don't like it. Fluorocarbon also has a little give to it, but not like mono. So I want to fill one reel with all fluoro and see how that works.

Yes, I know what you mean, I spooled a Cardiff with all 20lb flouro once(can't remember the brand) to use on highly pressured snapper but had bad results. I doubt you'll have any issues with 8-10lb line

I use ultralights for this line of fishing an ultralite 5’ 6”” rod and a 1000 series reel. I use spool one with 4lb flouro (usually P-line) and the other with Berkeley Trilene mono, also pound test. The mono set up got used for baits where I want the bait to float. How we I found that the either line would quickly “set” on the small reels and tangles became common with light lures . So I tried 10 lb braid with either a 4lb mono or flouro leader this year. I am not going back. Tangle problem solved. I use 3 to 4 foot leader attached with a uni knot
