By that time we won’t have a choice. And our gas vehicle’s will have been confiscated...🐟on

Hopefully, I'll be long gone before
that happens ! The reason we are
all (or most ?) still driving gas/
diesel-powered vehicles is that they have yet to find/develop anything
more reliable and/or efficient that is affordable to the masses ! Electrics have a long way to go before I'd even consider owning one - I'm happy with my gas-powered truck, thank you !

Been thinking about this over here (¿Ya say that you THOUGHT you'd smelled SOMETHING burning?) ... I got to thinking about "Multi-Fuel" diesel engines (they DO exist), went for "a web-search" for them and came up with an engine I'd never heard of before = the "New Scientist" ran an article on August 4, 1990; (THEY have it on the website as: 4, August 1990.) that describes an engine built by a guy that would run on gasoline, diesel, kerosene (think "jet-fuel", on THAT), and/or propane; also burning A MIXTURE OF MORE THAN 1 AT A TIME!!!
It's NOT, however, a diesel, but a ROTARY engine with only one (the newer ones have 2) sparkplug!!
It rotates horizontally, to allow for a lower, more aerodynamic hood (which THEY referred to as "a bonnet")! No water pump... It is cooled by oil.
The name of the article = "Technology: American Inventor unveils Multi-Fuel engine."

I just ran into a gal a couple of days ago. She and her husband just bought their first electric car. All wheel drive SUV. She said that was the most expensive, biggest waste of money, deal they ever made. It won’t go very far, they had to upgrade their power source at home for it to the tune of $6000.00, it’s hard to find a charging station and when she does it’s 30 minutes after waiting and charging and more expensive than buying gas. They spent close to $40,000.00 on the vehicle and when they checked on trading it back in the dealer offered them $15,000.00 less than they paid for it 4 months prior. Probably why they couldn’t get financing for it. They traded in a 2019 Ford F-150 with 27,000 miles on it and had to pay $19,000.00 difference. The electric vehicle has 1700 miles on it and they really regret buying it now. The paperwork and dealer told them it would go close to 300 miles on a charge under normal driving conditions. She said normal driving conditions means straight down a flat paved road with no head wind at 40 to 60 mph. She gets about 85 to 90 miles out of it before the low battery light comes on. Then she’s got about 9 miles to get to a charging station of some sort before it just stops. She said “you don’t wanna take this thing too far from home for sure”. She said it’s like buying a cell phone. The more you charge it the less run time you have. She’s hopeful the warmer months now will help it to stay charged a little longer but they’re not real optimistic they’ll ever see 300 miles out of a charge at this point. Their first charge from the dealer lasted 170 miles. Excuse was “break-in time”. Now after 4 months a full charge last about half of that under normal conditions. Not a whole lot of places flat enough without any wind interference plus it’s hard to get out on the road and travel 40 to 60 mph without getting a ticket or getting run over anywhere. The dealer told her there’s no market for used electric vehicles yet so they really didn’t want to take it on trade. $40,000.00 grocery getter is about what it amounts to for them. Luckily they only live 8 miles from town.
