I'll be fishing from both. I went to lake McDonough over the weekend to check it out. Didn't fish though. Also looked at stillwater pond in Torrington. Both look great but you never know what is there. Thanks for the info !!

McDonough is beautiful, clear water, very limited weeds, and best of all 10mph speed limit, NO JETSKIERS or WATERSKIERS!!!!!!!!
The only bad thing is the Water Companie's limited hours. But it's a great place to relax and fish.
If you want to head west, with the boat, the Housatonic lakes are all good for Largemouth Smallmouth,Pike, Carp, and panfish. I spend more time at Lillinonah and Zoar, only fished Lake Housatonic a couple times. Lilly has some Tiger Muskies as well. There's a bunch of good lakes, but many are crowded on weekends, especially when it warms up. I think I'm heading up to Highland Lake in Winchester on Saturday. That's a great lake but EXTREMELY CROWDED in the summer.

I like fishing for bass and trout. Great trout fishing on the Farmington river. Looking for some large mouth bass in my area. Anyone know of any lakes to try?

Welcome to FS Rich. I'm not a fresh water guy, want to learn this year now that I'm retired.
