Saturday afternoon these two small .5 an .75 heroic bass killed the 2021 skink and were promptly returned to the lake to help out again someday.

3/4 ounce gold kastmaster spoon. I was doing the slow thing for about an hour. Switched over to the kastmaster and picked up the pace. These two weren’t shy about hitting it hard.

Good catch, they're going to grow up to be some fine bass one day.

Nice to get out of Skunk Status. Is it legal to rig those up as bait?

I suppose salt guys would use bait even larger. C&R. Those guys need to grow. I saw a school of them go buy my dock. So healthy ecosystem and plenty of bigger fish on the way. Small, but big enough for a McDonald’s fillet of fish if I was hungry.

Thanks. I like to kill off that annual skunk early. Bigger ones out there. Just a little dock fishing after the ice melted.

Jwid my man, I'm guessing it has been a long, long Winter. Enquiring minds have to know so I gotta ask. Just how hard does a guppy hit a Kastmaster? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😋😋😋🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I was out about 150 foot cast. Just started reeling in faster than I had been. It was a unexpected hard hit but the fish ran out if steam quickly. Pretty much a drag in, quick picture cause I know you love them and back in the water. Just glad to have something on the line.

Or were you referring to this. Catching bait with spoons is a lot of work.

Jwid.... here is some food for thought. In my state (don't know about yours) neither one of those fish are legal catches (12 inch +). Per regulation, undersized fish must be released immediately. I know you are a good man and a regular contributor here, that's why I was teasing you. I wss hoping something would click for and you'd ask yourself why in the heck did I take pictures of illegal catches, go on about what it took for me to catch them, declare them skunk killers and post it all on this forum? Yes we like pictures but in this case not so much. Besides, it won't be long until you have the kind of pictures we are used to seeing from you. IMHO, this was a case of premature celebration and a violation of the stage's unwritten code. Oh, and the pic with the bait fish on the spoon? That's interesting, it's cool to see and again IMHO a far better post than pic's of fish that aren't legal.

Didn’t mean to do anything illegal, they were released quickly. Private lake. I have a license, but our regulations are our own. We have less than 20 regular fishermen on a 60 acre lake. I c&r but I take pictures of everything I can to log location, date, and time.

Dock is 2x6 boards.

Nice Bass Jwid. And I wouldn’t let NorCal give you any lip. I don’t see any reason you couldn’t take a picture of any fish you catch legal or illegal! You put them back and that’s all that matters! Maybe next year you can catch them again and they will have picked up a pound or so!!
