I've tried using em for catfish bait, they wouldn't eat em. Stripers huh? I might have to try that.

You'll have to wait till the big boys roll in...but yes they'll eat em up.leave em live and free running...have you fished salmon on sac river yet ? I think I have it figured out for this year.started late for last year ended up with six nice hogs if ya want come on down for the run I'll show ya what's working for me

I've fished for salmon on the Feather and the Yuba but never on the Sac. Buddy of mine from work had a friend who is a guide, he took us out on the Yuba so I'm not even sure where we were at. Just east of Marysville, out hi way 20, he had a key to a gate which lead to a boat ramp. We did ok. The Feather my buddy Bill had a boat, we'd launch at Boyd's Pump, run up the the falls at Shanghai Bend, fish that big hole up there. Caught em jigging mostly. In the spring we'd anchor up in there and fly fish for shad off the stern. Loads of fun.
And if that's an invite, when and where do I show up?

Shad start bout three weeks. Stripers behind that.salmon mid July till end of year . big girls round November.... And sturgeon I start looking late oct to end of year in Delta. So there's overlap of all three which I call prime time. But once stripers show up I fish them rest of the year.schoolies stick around till the water gets too cold .and for example bait fishing you can get two guys fifty in boat in there or four hours. Out of all those you might get four good keepers but the rest sure r fun brother nibbles on the the way to the bottom

Shad are a blast. Used to work with a Vietnamese dude who's ma could do wonders with em in a pressure cooker. I got no idea how to clean em, or cook em but they're sure fun to catch on light gear.

I've never caught em but gonna give em a shot this year .the wife and I own a bar called the mecca club in West sac...hasn't been ope in a year..hopefully pretty soon but I'll fish like heck till then.after the virus let's us open it's back to work I go lol
