You can't do very much to your car anymore without a fortune in sophisticated specialty equipment and tools. And even then, in order to change the air filter, you have to remove the left rear wheel, open the glove box and the trunk lid, disconnect the battery (there went all of your radio station presets) and drain the gas tank. Then after you change the air filter, you have do go through all those steps in reverse order, in exactly the same sequence.

At least, it seems that way!

Yeah. Boyfriend used to work on my 2002 Chevy Impala, now I take my Prius to the dealer for anything besides oil change and tire rotation.

I had an ‘01. 7.3. Best engine ever. 20 mpg pulling a full load over the grapevine. I miss that truck. 🥲

Oh you poor dears you should own my '63 International 3/4 Ton P/U. You can sit on the front fenders and put your feet down in the open space and change plugs, carb, etc. Carb comes off with 4 nuts and a throttle linkage clip. Just change out the fuel pump, water pump, regulator, alternator, by unbolting off the side of the engine. About $40 apiece several years ago. I hate mechanicing at age 76 also but I still do all that.

Okay, but I'm gonna get skeptical if you ever take a Tesla in for an oil change!

The 6.9 and 7.3’s are international motors. You can actually go to an international dealer and by parts for them...🐟on

Engineers sometimes don't use common sense. We once were installing a machine but we couldn't put the last piece in due to a roof drain pipe being in the way. We called the engineers down and they said they didn't know the pipe was there. I asked "did it ever cross your mind to come down here and look at the site?".

We were installing a radar system on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.
The HVAC guys installed their ducts right across where the radar wave guide was to go up to the rooftop antenna.
When they had to move their duct work, they wanted more money. The U. S. Navy told them that the measurements were all on the drawings, move the ducts now. Don’t screw with the U. S. Navy!
