I just retired. I have fished many years at the New Jersey Shore, but would like to learn fresh water since it's closer to me. I'm not experienced in fishing fresh cold water. SE Pa isn't known as a great fishing area, but I know that good fisherman can find fish. It's kind of an open topic, but I am interested in everything from trout, bass, panfish, cats, and you name it. Any suggestions for lures, or bait in cold water would be much appreciated. I understand the cold = slow concept, but don't know the freshwater version of it.
Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the Forum, I not sure about the other species, but if the water temp. is in the low 40's, you are going to have to put the bait right in the trout's mouth. The trout are going to be in large pods. If you are careful when you catch one you will catch a bunch. Good Luck!

Welcome to the Fishing Stage, Sgtjdaniels! ¿How far from the Ohio River are you? There's a member that lives down in West by GOD, that has been doing right well, fishing that Ohio River.

Welcome to the Stage Sgtjdaniels, the freshwater version is even colder = even slower. It's a very frustrating time of year.

Lake nockamixen , NW of Philadelphia in bucks county is a large man made lake. It’s remote and there’s days when I don’t even see another boat all day.
Largemouth bass , striped bass , panfish and catfish. Google the lake and let me know what you think.

I'm in Delaware County. I've tried Levittown lake in Bucks County. They stocked it this fall. No luck so far.
I’ve never fished Levittown lake .
I’ve fished peace valley in bucks county and core creek park but usually lake. Nockamixon near Quakertown.
I have a small Jon boat and come spring if things go well I check in with you to see if we can do some fishing together.
I’m primarily a salt water guy having spent summers in Jersey as a kid in wildwood. I still fish island beach but it’s a hike to get there.

Fish soft baits weedless no weight. Twitch and let sink then repeat. They always hit on the drop. It will usually be a light tap but at times they will slam it. Been catching them steady this winter. Big bass and pickerel. Good Luck.
I'm a saltwater guy too. I am open to both. I now have the time to learn more. Please let me know if you have plans and need a hand.
I'm going up to Blue Marsh tomorrow If I can get out early enough. Want to try the outflow from the dam. Probably too cold but it's better than sitting around the house all day.
