Yep they work well. I usually do a full bag of 10 at home so I don't have to mess with it on the boat. Sometimes a bag can last 2-3 trips depending on how many hook ups I get.
Me too OBG, I try to do as much as possible ahead of time. Don't like wasting precious water time, doing trivial stuff.
I think the hook goes under the saddle between rings, perpendicular to the worm.

The only thing that worries me about the Mustad one with the little eye is I use Trokar hooks, and the knife edge may cut into the little eye, and weaken it. I think I'm going to try them all, and see in person. I know people who use 2 regular rings and crisscross them and then put the hook in and out of the X .
Have seen the crisscross also, but have not tried it. Going to try the one with the eye with the VMC Neko hooks. Will compare note when we get into the season Fred.
