Cheap vs expensive polarized sunglasses?

Is there any significant anti-glare improvement between a cheap $40 polarized sunglasses and a pair of $200 costa?

Just wondering, I have some pretty old $150 Oakley that are still doing an OK job, and some new amazon generic $35 polarized, that seem to be doing the exact same job...

Hence my question, for pure anti-glare sake, is the any improvement in dropping $200 for some Costa for example?

(Please don’t answer “you shouldn’t play with your eyes safety” or “mineral glass is better than plastic”, that’s not the point here, I’m just trying to know if one is better at seeing them fishies :))

Personally I think the costas give a better view but matching lens color to conditions helps too.

I've had $150 Oakley glasses and also $10 Berkley.. I havent found any difference in anti glare between them.

For what its worth.... I've worn Berkleys for the last 10yrs.

I guess I'd have to bring both pairs and switch back and forth a few times, to see which ones seem to "work" the best. Then, leave the others in a protective case, where they won't accidentally go overboard.

I was wondering the same thing
I used the seen on TV tactical glasses for a couple years.
Last fall I bought some Wiley X
I decided to give em a try and compared both on a snowy sunny day

The Wiley X were definitely better at glare reduction

Seems like the only sensible way, to go about it, seeing as how you already OWN both pairs, at this point...
Me, I've been wearing RayBans, since I was a wee child, as my father was a professional airplane driver. I'd noticed (finally) in the mid 1980's, that I could not only see more of what's under the water, but that I could also see a thick layer of smog hanging over Lake Erie, looking north from the east side of Cleveland, that was NOT VISIBLE with the naked eye.

Able Man, I thought the only way to see through the smog over Cleveland was to chop it up with a wood chipper and finish off with a leaf blower!!! Hehehehehe!!!!!

$10 polarized. Same effect, but I can keep a pair everywhere. And not worry. Spend your cash on decent gear.

If your going to spend a lot of time on the water I like Costas, way too expensive, but for cutting glare on a long day I think they are great. I fish off shore and the time spent is 10 12 hours. I have had more reasonable glasses but they really can't compare on a long day. Only thing is they have made their guarantee a lot more difficult to
get. Save all paperwork if you should get them.

Go to Walmart and pick up a pair of either Ozark Trail or Yum colorized glasses. Both sell for about $5.00 and work great seeing into the water. If you don't like them you are out a 5 spot.
I also have the$200.00 Maui Jim's but I am not going to use them on the water when there isn't that big of a difference.

I guess it is in the eye of the beholder I'm not a wealthy guy but I fish a lot and I have been fishing for 70 years and have tried scads of sunglasses over the years and to me they do make a difference or I would be happy with the $20 pair I can afford not the $200 Costas I can hardly afford. They make that much difference to my eyes and vision. That is why I get Costas they seem best to me. Every guide down here has Costas and I know them all so
I guess it depends on what serves you best. Just have to remember not to leave them behind at the diner.

You can spend 200.00 on sunglasses and loose them the first day out and their gone forever. Or you can spend 20.00 on them and drop them in a lake and the next day find them on the dash board????? Still dont know how that happens.
