Nice bird - how did you prep him to eat? We make jerky out of ours.

Wife made a big pot pie out of it. Awesome. Never tried jerky. Season is still in. If I get any more I'll PM you for a recipe.

I basically use the traeger jerky recipe. Leave out the teriyaki and add tablespoon of sumac spice and tablespoon of white ground pepper. Marinade for minimum of 48 hrs. Dry off good and sprinkle with good black pepper. Then the smoker. Most people cant tell its duck or goose or swan or wild turkey😂😂.

The GWTeal are great challenging targets. They fly fast and dip and dive. Lots of fun. I think they are great eating. Grilled, roasted or as part of appetizers- they are a family favorite of ours.

Probably the best tasting. Very light colored meat because of their diet and not muddy tasting like some of the others. Too bad they are not bigger😫😌😂😂

Ducks season is almost over. Another limit (7) today pushing me past my old best season - which was last year. 108 with last year at 106. Another mixed bag day with 6 species ie mergansers, green wing teal, gadwall, ring neck , widgeon and a canvasback. Looks like the canvasback might have to go on the wall - he was a beautifully colored old drake and not shot up. How do I get this one past momma??

Trade-off ? Compromise ? If you give her something she wants, then just maybe she'll let you
stuff your duck ?

Then again - better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission ?

Just wonderin' !

Now that's a win-win. Time heals all wounds, and hides all money spent...

Should be getting my Trumpeter Swan, a dead hang turkey with a 10 1/2” bristle beard and 1 1/2” spurs, an old banded drake mallard (8 years old) and an old beautiful Golden Eye back in the next month or two. Lots of explanations there😂😂😂. Hope I survive the beatings🤪.

Haha, if you do survive, you'll be toughened up for this one then!

I heard a Tommy Lasorday quote yesterday that seems to fit here. His wife accused him of loving baseball more than her. He replied, "Yeah, but I love you more than football and basketball." When she accuses you of loving hunting and fishing more than her, you can tell her yeah, but I love you more than dancing or karaoke, or something like that...

Ya I have a great pair of quail that I got this year that probably will be done also. They are mombo sized wild birds and not shot up. Stashed in the freezer! Have a picture of a pair of chuckar that I saw done and love the presentation and think the quail will be great done like those.
