Fishing is a joy but im scared
Spent my childhood fishing with my father and siblings and loved every moment. I have amazing memories thanks to that man. I learnt knotty that I still know tricks and techniques things about the water that some expert fisherman might not even know. I really want to get into it I live near 2 jettys but I honestly have no idea where to start eg what rods bait lures?? Or even when to fish. I dont care if I spent an hour not catching anything but I wanna know where to start my learning curve because I've looked over the net and everything is utterly confusing.
There: want to know how to begin my journey from a childhood passion.

Strike up conversations with the regulars in that area, one thing guys that fish like to do is brag about their knowledge.... Seriously

Solid advice. My father was a fisherman you're not wrong on the brag!

I will say though we always do this one thing
"You should go to this other place is so much better fishing there."
Take it with a grain of salt, if it was so much better there then why they here lol

Everytime I hear someone say that from now on, that sentence will run through my head and ill have to resist saying it lol.

Well, it helps a lot to target the common species in the area. For instance, around here, the common fish to catch off a pier is scup (or porgie). Any bait shop will be happy to set you up. Just tell them where you're going and they'll explain everything.

I hadn't thought of asking any employees! Most of them probably fish regularly thankyou.

Yea, they will show you the best way to set up your rug and give you the right bait. Hard to go wrong. Dont forget a nice chair and some snacks.

Definitely hit up a local bait shop. I'd try to avoid the big stores like bass pro because they might just try to sell you the most expensive rod and reel.

Mom and pop bait shop for sure.
Most are pretty honest.
I’ve been fishing a very long time and have picked up tips from bait shops that made a difference.

iMidz: ¿Aren't you "aquainted with" anyone at all, who DOES fish?
It would seem to me, that if I suddenly woke up one morning, remembering 0% ~ how to fish, I'd want to check with people I know, to see: ¿Who among them seems to be "good at putting seafood on ice".
Then, I suppose; I'd see if they'd be willing to teach me what I need to know, to NOT get separated from any more money, than necessary, to get at least "set-up".
The theory of the "local bait shop Vs. the BIG store" ... Almost sounds exactly opposite of reality... In any case, you obviously have the ability to "shop online"... When it comes time to start $pending money... SHOP FOR PRICE.

If you go back to your profile and put your location in. people would know where you're at and would be able to help you better
Try checking out Saltstrong.com. You can gain a lot of information there, even if you don’t become a paying member. Good luck.
imidz if you add your fishing waters to your profile like the area of the country you are talking about, just may be a fisher on here that fishes the same waters.
Other then that watch and learn from some locals out on the jetty you mention.
Imidz: Fear is good, it requires that you respect something. I am 86 years old and have told younger people at my age, fearf is the only thrill left!!!! Just kidding, but some believe me.
Now about fishing, if you take it slow and pay attention to instructons and advice, you won't have any serious problems. Just dont be a bull in a china closet. When you have a problem, come to Stages and ask. Just Sayin...RJS
