I am from southwest Wisconsin and love to fish all year long. I enjoy fishing crappies, bass and walleyes. The Wisconsin River and it’s backwaters are where I spend my most time. Furthermore, I enjoy learning more fishing tactics and often share information with others when requested. I retired 2 years ago and fish 3-4 days a week. I am planning a ice fishing trip to the Hayward, WI area in the near future.

Welcome to the forum. I live in West Bend and do most of my fishing in this area. I'm thinking about traveling to the Wisconsin River though.

Mike

Just about every freshwater species swims in that river. No salmon or lake trout, but every panfish through walleyes to muskies

Hello fellow crappie fanatic. Glad to have you on the forum. My daughter lived in Sparta for a while & I enjoyed the time i visited your state. I fished some streams & had a great time. I've traveled down the Mississippi along the road to Prairie DuChien & it's a beautiful drive. Enjoy yourself on the forum. Tight lines.

Bottomcoon,
You’ll have to spend vacation time in northern Wisconsin where the lakes seem to outnumber the people.

It's too far & snakey. I'm sure the fishing up there is awesome. I've wanted to fish those backwaters & oxbow's along ole Miss above Prairie Du Chien ever since I saw them. The closest I've been is crossing I90 at Albert Lee when I'm on my way to Ontario for my yearly trip. You know the saying "so many lakes so little time". Most of my time is spent chasing crappie, bluegill, smallmouth & bluecat. I know there's better lakes to fish but this is home & I'm happy here, & there aren't any slimy pike here. If you're ever headed this way just remember there's plenty of room in my boat. Tight lines.

Welcome Happy Lou! Always wanted to go ice fishing. I travel often on business to New Hampshire. The bob houses are plentiful up there. I need to try it.

Absolutely, I enjoy bass fishing and when I can’t find the crappies, I usually bass fish the backwaters of the Wisconsin or Blackhawk Lake.
