Cool, that is one heavy boat. I had a 1970 14' fiberglass criss craft with a 9 hp Yamaha. Boat did me well for many years.

It’s not terribly heavy the9.5 will get her on plane but top speed is like 12-13 mph.. I’m looking for a 20 hp and that will be perfect. But yes it’s super heavy compared to tge modern micro skiffs out there

When i first got mine i had a free 25hp mercury, yes that really moved but way to much weight. What are you using to keep your bow down with that 9.5?

You're not alone in this 27. I had no idea where the pilgram was but he mentioned his target species & I knew he wasn't anywhere near me. We've got rain for the next 3 days so I'm grounded. Be back pestering the crappie Friday, I hope. Tight lines.

Back in 1976, I had a 12' Starcraft rowboat/ a 9.8 Merc screwed on to the back of it. I tossed a sack of concrete up in the bow, to keep that rascal "under control". Worked out fairly well. His boat DOES look a bit "beefier", though.

From what i could barely see looked like a platform at the bow for standing. I had some solid cinder blocks to keep the bow in the water. Once it was on plain it would cut the water just fine.
