Well you're probly fishin for crappie when you're doin that. I wouldn't set the hook very hard for them either.
The mouth of a trout is nothing like the mouth of a crappie.
And we all should be using sharp hooks.

Welcome fellow Missourian. Lake of the Ozarks is a huge shoreline. Where do you fish? I have fished around Ft. Lenardwood area. Catfish are massive.
