I know that there seems as though, there should be "submerged plateaus", just offshore of Boca Grande, that OUGHT TO really produce SOME sort of action, it would seem. I've never fished'em / hook and line, I'm just aware that they were out there in the early 1980's... Haven't heard of any earthquakes in the area... I'm guessing that they are still there.
There WAS a limited amount of shrimp living there, so; perhaps there'd be a certain amount of hungry critters, looking for a shrimp dinner.
You should be able to spot them (the plateaus) on a NOAA or USGS Chart of the area. Let us know, if you give it a try, y how you did...
