The Pfizer and Moderna are both two-part shots, given 21 and 28 days apart respectively.

Gotcha. Thanks. And is that just a one time deal or does it have to be repeated periodically? Do you have to have both (4 injections) or just two from one or the other?

They’re not sure at this point. It’s still in the experimental stage. It’s a wait and see. 🤷‍♂️🐟on

Curious mind. Sounds like people allergic to the flu shot are out of luck anyway.

For sure. I guess I’ll wait and see. One of my wife’s friends got the shot. About 30 minutes later she blacked out. Now she’s been sicker than a dog ever since (4 days ago). She wasn’t sick at all before. Might have been one of those allergic to it but didn’t know she was. She’s not going in for the second round and I don’t know which shot it was. Sounds like there’s a few different ones out there. Kinda scary I’d say.

I just want to let y’all know that Myrna (my wife) received the Moderna vaccine yesterday and has had NO bad effects, other than a slightly sore arm this morning. For those who may not know, she works for the Lawrence Douglas County Health Dept. She will get part 2 of the vaccine later.
Has anyone else on FS, or families/friends taken either vaccine yet? Let us know....

It is the practice of medicine. They can practice on someone else. Had cataract surgery today and my 3 nurses said the same thing.

Just one time deal.
Just the two-part from one or the other. The Pfizer is the live vaccine. The Moderna is not.

With all of this being “new stuff”, there may be changes or modifications forthcoming as they learn more, or as they see reactions to the vaccines over time. Myrna said there is even talk in the medical field of them mixing the flu and Covid vaccines together, but just speculation at this point. Lots left to learn plus wait and see what ends up happening to Covid long term.

So, like the flu, they’re are just formulating a vaccine to combat the symptoms? There’s isn’t a vaccine that fights the flu virus or any virus for that matter. They just attempt to produce vaccines to combat the symptoms of a virus. The rest is up to the immune system in the body. Right? A virus is not a bacteria so it’s not alive. Therefore not much of anything has an influence on a virus. Whereas a bacteria can be stopped or reduced with antibiotics while a virus can’t be. Correct?

They say this vaccine is expected to be ~99% effective immunity against the virus; not just the symptoms. Don’t know how it works....
