its funny that most of ther convo never mentions a reason why folks move to florida...non existent taxes. Besides all the weather stuff...right?For me...i'd rather have four seasons for personal reasons.

No, this article dealt with a privately owned and stocked freshwater pond near
Tallahassee, Florida ! It is at Dr. Galt Allee's Hiamonee Plantation, in the outskirts of Tallahassee, and has special cooling filters
and aerators to keep the water clean and at optimum temperature for trout; in March, when the water reaches 70°, the pond is emptied and the remaining fish are given away
to friends and family ! In the
fall, when the weather cools,
the pond is again re-filled and
re-stocked for the winter
season ! The fee to fish this
pond is $25/day and is for
fly-fishing only, with a one trout per day limit ! These are freshwater Kamloops trout, imported from British Columbia, and NOT sea-run, saltwater speckled trout !

Hey FishFinder! I really agree with Richey!! Central Florida and the Harris Chain of Lakes is the place to be!!! All sorts of 55 and over communities on the lakes with canal fronts and boat docks in your backyard leading to the lakes! Big Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Eustis, Lake Griffin, Lake Dora and more including huge Lake Appopka!! Lake Griffin leads you into a series of rivers that can take you all the way to Jacksonville and the Atlantic Ocean! My neighbor and his wife made it there and back in less than 3 weeks! Gas supplies and good restaurants to stop at all the way!! The Chain has fabulous freshwater fishing!!! Tournaments going on almost weekly! Other things going on on the every weekend! Including, antique boat shows, seaplane fly-in, fireworks you can enjoy on your boat, festival and boat parades!! I suggest you look-up Mid Florida Lakes on google a 55 and over community that is fabulous! Over 1200 homesites and many many on canals with docks in your backyard!! It's got a huge clubhouse with a gym, card room, library, computer rm., pool room, commercial kitchen, huge gathering rm. for weekly bingo and gatherings. 2 swimming pools, and a separate woodworking shop with ever tool imaginable!! Dog park, shuffleboard and more!!! Close to shopping and fantastic restaurants!!!! Please check it out!!!! We love it!!!

I live in north Venice and love it. Where we live is not a 55+ community, but it is a fairly new gated community. Construction began on our community about 4 years ago. They’re still building houses on the property. Check it out online to see if it’s something you would like. Toscana Isles is the name of the community.
