I'm new to the area (Homosassa, FL). I have my own boat and want to learn how to fish the area. Homosassa to Steinhatchee. Youtube videos make it look easy but when you get out there it's another story!

Welcome aboard BB. Should be someone in your area that takes you up on the offer.

Welcome to the Stage BuffaloBob. I'd love to join you but the 1162 mile ride would take too long!

Money is well spent with a good guide to learn. That’s what I did any time I went to a new place. Offer a free boat ride and you’ll get the guys who can’t afford one but know everything about fishing. Like 20 times and still not teach you anything. Been there, done that one. I’d say spend the $200.00 and see how it’s done. Good luck to ya.

Thanks Catfish. I did hire a guide my first time out here and caught a few in poor conditions. There are so many different fish and variables here between the inshore, offshore, tide, seasons etc. So much to learn! The guides in our area are ALL $350 for four hours. Non negotiable. A little too rich for my fixed income! BTW, I did catch a limit of mangrove snapper this morning! Gonna go throw a few lures for Snook in the river Friday morning.

Spend some time on the internet watching videos on youtube

Put in the area and the type of fishing you want to do...I've been entering in such as Lake Berryessa toplining for trout, and there are an array of videos. I've been finding some that professional guides have done that they lay out their go to producing rigs with speed, lines, lures, etc. It can give you a lot of professional go to information. There are videos where guys make it look easy without telling you much, some really do a good job laying out the whole set of critical elements.
